The purpose of our GEM (Gifts, Endowments and Memorials) committee is to ensure that all donations are acknowledged and that the funds are correctly disbursed according to the donor’s wishes. Grace Presbyterian Church has an endowment fund thanks to the generous gifts of several members and families.  Each year, some of the interest from this endowment is distributed to four areas.  No more than 6 percent of the interest earned is used.  The four funds are:  capital Improvement (40%), grants for higher education (20%), benevolence (20%), reinvestment (10%), and park (10%).  The GEM committee considers the needs in each area and makes a recommendation to the session who vote on the proposed requests. Donors may opt to contribute to the endowment fund, or they may give directly to a particular area such as Friends of the Fountain, Music, Christian Education, or the Undesignated Fund.  Sometimes, people choose to purchase something on the church’s wish list.  For example, our elevator, carillon, and covered walkway were all gifts from church members.

Friends of the Fountain: Donations made to the Friends of the Fountain help maintain our church fountain and park.

Music: Gifts to our music fund pay for the purchase of new music for the choir, bell choir and carillon.

Christian Education/Sunday School: Memorials given to Christian Education help us purchase supplies like new books, CD’s, DVD’s, craft supplies, nursery toys and many others.

Undesignated Fund: Donors who contribute gifts to the undesignated fund are always appreciated because this money can be spent for any necessary items related to the church.  For example, a gift to this fund paid for the construction of this website.
